Pickering Traction Engine Rally - A Must Visit

When it comes to things to see and do in North Yorkshire, you’ll never really be short of choices. One thing that Scarborough seems to do well is put on yearly events and the Pickering Traction Engine Rally is no exception. In fact this event is so fantastic that people who have been once often plan their next visit to the area to coincide with the next one, because they don’t want to miss out!

The event usually takes place over a couple of days right at the start of August, so you can almost guarantee good weather. As the name suggests it is a chance to get up close and personal with traction engines.

What lots of people don’t realise is that there are many different types of traction engines, especially when you take into account style and design. As we don’t often see these on the rails anymore, being able to witness these up close and personal can be really exciting.

Of course, as this is a family event there is also plenty more that you can see and do while you are there. The biggest steam rally event in the North of England gives you the chance to see over 1000 classic cars, tractor pulling, wall of death stunts, arena attractions and so much more. You’ll also get food and craft stalls, bars, live bands and a collectors fair – which is enough to keep anyone busy for a long time!

Don’t worry if you have young children and you are concerned it’ll be boring for them. You can be sure that the car shows, steam engines and live stage shows will be enough to keep them entertained. It really is a family event worth attending, so if you’re in the area at the start of August then make sure you check it out!

As family events go, this is the perfect chance to see something a little different and have a great time together and as 2014 is the 68th annual Pickering Traction Engine Rally why not make it the first year you pay a visit?
